Dr. Zane Pollard Honored at Tulane University School of Medicine
In May, Dr. Zane Pollard was honored by Tulane University School of Medicine with a Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is a distinct honor as it is peer nominated and voted. The Dean of the Medical School presented Dr. Pollard his award as classmates and family were in attendance during the weekend of their class reunion.
Dr. Pollard was honored to be recognized but noted that he has “the greatest appreciation for all of the Doctors who are out there seeing patients every day. Those are the unsung heroes.”
A board certified Ophthalmologist, specializing in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Dr. Pollard’s list of credentials is impressive. He has written extensively in his area of specialization and has published 90 scientific papers. In addition, he has been a guest speaker and lecturer at more than 25 national conferences. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the James Hall Eye Center Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and has provided mentorship to many by training 35 Fellows. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the national organization for pediatric ophthalmologist.
