“We have a dedicated team that strives to provide the best care for our patients from their initial phone call until they check out,” Kelly Cerrada, Operations Manager said. “Our Front desk does its very best to maintain a mindset of compassion and flexibility when assessing patient’s needs.

The appointment booking process begins with the front desk associate looking into ModMed and inputting the patient’s data. From there, the front desk looks for the earliest available appointment with the appropriate physician. Along with booking the appointment, the front desk associates verify and update insurance data, contact information such as home address and phone number, and ensure insurance eligibility and coverage.

In addition to answering phones and checking in patients, our front desk staff answers nearly all the calls for our physicians. “We are the first people that patients talk to before they see the Doctor. We set the mood for the entire visit,” said Tamia Haggins, a front-desk associate with the Cumberland Retina Department. “At the front desk, we know patients are coming in with fears and worries, especially when they are not aware of what exactly is going on with their eyes. We treat patients as if they are our family members.

Overall, our front desk team manages a complex and intricate operation of scheduling, verifying, and contacting patients to ensure they receive the care they need when they need it. By remaining in close communication with our physicians and clinics, the front desk continues to give our patients the best quality possible when it comes to their eye care.

• Office Updates: Marietta Adults and Pediatrics clinic recently underwent a massive renovation. Changes include new carpets, premium vinyl in exam rooms, new bathroom tiling and updated countertops. This project was completed in mid-March. Lawrenceville clinic is currently underway with a similar refresh with additional changes being made to the pediatric side with opening new spaces through demolition of existing walls as appropriate.
• Microsoft Teams: Office 365 is in the process of being implemented companywide and includes a suite of applications to improve productivity and communications. MS Teams is accessible through the Office 365 portal at www.office.com. Teams is a great way for quick communications across the ECA team and provides the opportunity to exchange messages using Chat even if you are on the phone with a patient or physician. Screen sharing is available through the Chat feature to let other team members see exactly what you are viewing to provide support in real time. If you have any questions or difficulties with Microsoft Teams, please reach out to your direct supervisor or to I.T.
• STRIVE-One Digital App: There is a new One Digital app for all your benefits information. Here you can view all your insurance benefits, find providers, share with your covered family members, etc.

Did You Know About Our Fayetteville Surgery Center?

The new surgery center has received AAAHC accreditation for Medicare on January 13th.

AAAHC is The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, it’s necessary for Medicare certification and it’s difficult to achieve!

They officially started performing surgeries in April. The ECA surgeons there are Dr. Tucker, Dr. Long, Dr. Gardner, Dr. Floyd, and Dr. Kuang.
